Whipped sweets is the brainchild of a one-woman (with several helpers) baking machine. an audiometrics specialist by day, mel was always the one who brought the desserts to parties that were eaten up in 2 seconds. soon, she was getting requests for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies from family and friends. what started out as favors for family and friends soon turned into a business opportunity when word spread as to how simply fabulous her creations were! and thus, a new monster was born...
all whipped creations are made by hand from scratch by mel (with a few helpers sometimes, including her 5-year old daughter). |

When thinking of names for her new business venture, a few names came to mind. some of the ones that ended up on the kitchen floor included: cups n'stuff; sugar n'ice; cups by mel; mel's cups. then one day in october 2007, mel and a couple friends took a trip to san francisco. on the plane ride, the girls had a few too many drinks and started listing down on an airplane napkin various name options. ("moist" was another one that ended up being axed...thanks anyways, iris). then mel said:
"what about....'WHIPPED'?"
silence. eyebrows went up. hmmm....
a star was born. |
